Three-System Performance™
Helping riders build calm, durable performance horses - without relying on pressure or shortcuts
How Performance is Built
Many performance horses are often trained for intensity or speed before their bodies and nervous systems are ready for the workload.
Three-System Performance develops horses through three interconnected systems that support durability, clarity, and long-term soundness:
Physiology
Supporting the horse’s body through nutrition, recovery, and early recognition of physical stress.
Neurology
Developing a balanced nervous system capable of staying calm and responsive under pressure.
Conditioning
Progressively building the strength, stamina, and workload capacity required for the horse’s job.
Together these systems build horses that can perform with durability, clarity, and balance.
Horses of Three-System Performance
Each horse represents a different stage in development of Three-System Performance.
FastTime The horse who first inspired a deeper study of conditioning and equine physiology.
Fueg
A difficult journey through neurological challenges that forced a deeper understanding of the horse’s nervous system.
King
A young athlete currently being developed through the Three-System Performance framework.
Some horses teach us how to win.
Others teach us how to understand.
Drago
A responsive horse demonstrating how balanced physiology and neurology support precision work under pressure.
About Leslie
Three-System Performance developed from decades of working with performance horses and searching for better ways to build durable athletes.
Over time it became clear that many training problems were not simply behavioral or training issues, but reflections of deeper physiological and neurological stress within the horse.
While my career has included multiple disciplines, much of my focus was on building competitive barrel horses. Success in the arena taught many lessons, but it also raised deeper questions.
Many performance horses were being asked for speed or intensity before their bodies and nervous systems were prepared for the workload.
That realization began a long process of studying equine physiology, conditioning, and nervous system balance.
Three-System Performance grew out of that work.
Rather than focusing only on training maneuvers, the program looks at the horse through three interconnected systems: physiology, neurology, and conditioning.
When those systems are developed together, horses become stronger, more durable, and more mentally balanced.
The goal of Three-System Performance is simple:
To help riders build durable performance horses through thoughtful conditioning, careful observation, and respect for the horse’s physical and mental development.
